‘Zoos Should Be Closed Down!’

Read this [musing] called 'Zoos Should Be Closed Down!' by Oindrila here-

I think that zoos should be closed down. They are no longer for any purpose. I feel now they have lost the educational value they are supposed to have. Today if we want to know about animals, reptiles, birds, etc. we can do it just by staying tuned to the TV channels like Discovery, Nat Geo or Animal Planet. This gives more knowledge than spending one two hours in the zoo. In a zoo wild animals are deprived of their natural habitat & environment. In some zoos the animals are kept in small cages in which they can't even move, their bodies rub against the cages and they get wounded. When children are taken to a zoo they must return with some good idea, but keeping animals in captivity isn't a good idea that children should learn. In a way zoos commit cruelty on these helpless creatures. Like human beings animals are also God's gift to the earth. These creatures add beauty to this planet. Like us the animals also want their space and freedom. Let's see a quote by Abraham Lincoln (the famous Ex-President of U.S.) “I’m in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That's the way of a whole human being!”. I'd say this again at the end “Let the animals live in happiness by giving them freedom just to make our mother nature happy” & for this abolish zoos.
